On the late afternoon of the 25th February, I drove from Kinloch Hourn towards Fort William on the only access road between Kinloch Hourn and Loch Laggan. It's full of the most outrageous potholes and a client of mine, in another car, descended into one of these and he got a puncture. This resulted in an unscheduled overnight for him and two other clients of mine plus myself and my partner.
That would have been the end of things, however, the garage that mended the tyre stated that there had been seven punctures on the road that night and six the night before. This is NOT normal, as I am sure you agree.
Further, My vehicle bottomed out on this road on several occasions whilst driving along this road and it too disappeared down a dreadfully deep hole a couple of times.
Further, the roads in general in Scotland, as opposed to Wales where I live, are appalling. The stretch in Glencoe is a disgrace with deep potholes and dangerous surface conditions for much of its length.
I am therefore giving notice that if any damage has been done to my car’s suspension or wheel alignment then I will be coming calling at your door.
I attach an invoice for the costs of the unscheduled overnights and expect you to pay up without question and I also expect you to explain why you have allowed the roads in Scotland to become so poor and in particular, the chaos and danger posed to motorists by the Kinloch Hourn road and I also expect you to inform me of the immediate works that you will be taking to remedy the poor surface conditions.
If you refuse to pay for our costs I will, with statements in hand from the clients, the RAC and the garage in Fort William, take you to a small claim court and in addition, will add my costs in time at 25 GBP per hour and also the fees in the case.
