It was a long time in the planning and the flurry of late bookings made this a viable and social experience for all involved. We had, effectively, seven members of staff delivering a weekend of activity for a group of twelve clients.
We hired Clyngwyn Bunkhouse and the team there did the catering. Graham provided the foraging hike on Saturday, Andy delivered a Pen y Fan Sunset walk on Friday and a waterfall hike and wild swim on Sunday and Vicki held it all together with four sessions of yoga, bookending both Saturday and Sunday. The team from Sawna Bach made sure the sauna was fired up and good to go for the whole of Saturday afternoon and Andy donned his therapist hat, delivering two massages on Saturday afternoon. Phew… And all worked out well, like clockwork.
Sunset on Pen y Fan
There was no sunset. It was a winters day on the topsso straight up and down for us and back to the Bunkhouse for hot chocolate and Welshcakes…
Yoga
Vicki is a fine yoga teacher, delivering gentle stretching and breathwork. She delivered four hours of yoga over the weekend, morning and late after noon on the Saturday and Sunday. The yoga took place in the gorgeous poly tunnel at Clyngwyn Farm. Warm if not hot at times. Perfect for the stretches and guided meditations…
Foraging
Graham is a master of the hedgerow and he walked our group from the bunkhouse to the entrance of Porth Yr Ogof, a fine cave system a few miles away. His walk included plenty of stops, looking at edibles and poisons and medicinals along the way. He finished his hike off with a dip into the cold waters of the River Mellte before guiding the group back to the bunkhouse for some sauna time.
Sauna
Sawna Bach is a mobile sauna available for hire for any occasion, staffed throughout use and wood fired. The sauna reached a good temperature, about 85 degrees and this was perfect for the group. They even included two cold plunge pools outside of the sauna door, for that quick cooling down and then back into the heat :)
Waterfalls
Andy guided the group around the four waterfalls trail, perhaps the most visited area in the Brecon Beacons National Park. We were early though and avoided most of the crowds, having the opportunity for another swim, in a larger pool, prior to heading back for some closing yoga and a buffet laid out by the owners of Cyngwyn Farm.
All in all a very successful weekend
