Wales Outdoors delivered three waterfall walks and a hike up Pen y Fan and Wales Guided Tours delivered two tours, East of Cardiff and a private tour of the South Wales Valleys…
Waterfalls
An unusually large group of fifteen accompanied our two leaders on this mostly sunny day walking the waterfalls of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The group, from the UK, India, the USA and Australia got on rather well with each other and a good deal of chat, encouraged by Andy, was the flavour of the day, along with chasing those waterfalls of course.
Three Castles Tour
Five clients today, hailing from the USA and Australia. And a little bit of a strange one. Strange? Because they were all characters :) We had a fun day on a hot day, and that’s unusual, for Wales, too. I’ve begun to add in the museums at Caerleon to the tour, which means I have to work harder to keep things on track, but that the client gets a hell of a Roman experience there, and the museums and their staff are great :)
The dragons have returned from their summer vacation to Caerphilly Castle and are looking resplendent in their home there.
Now my Three Castles Tour is as follows:
Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre
National Roman Legion Museum
Caerleon Roman Baths
Chepstow Castle
Tintern Abbey
Caerphilly Castle
Castell Coch
Waterfalls
On Tuesday Graham delivered a small group tour of the waterfalls and then Andy was back at it at the waterfalls on Friday with a group from India, Indonesia, Senegal, Saudi, South Africa and the UK.
Pen y Fan
A family from France booked me for an off-the-beaten-track journey to the summit of Pen y Fan, and back, on Saturday. They were a joy to be with. A knowledgeable guide can deliver fine days away from the crowd on even the busiest mountains. I manage this well on Snowdon, meeting the crush of people only at the summit and yesterday we had Pen y Fan to ourselves for about 90% of the day, despite the car park being full and the main drag heaving with hikers. We even had the River Taff to ourselves, from Pont ar Daf to its source, along with its pools for a quick dip. It was surprisingly warm for a mountain stream :)
The Valleys
What a wonderful day, privately booked by a family group from Trinidad. They wanted The Valleys and Andy gave it to them, so Cwmcarn Forest Drive, Big Pit and Llancaiach Fawr :) All amazing attractions in the Gwent Valleys and of course plenty of banter and historical description along the way too :)
