Wales Outdoors delivered three events this week, a Three Castles tour, a social hike in Bannau Brychieniog and a wander to the summit of Yr Wyddfa…
Castles
It was a private tour day for a team from the US competing in a Karate competition in Cardiff. The tour took in Caerleon, Chepstow, Tintern and Caerphilly, so, only two castles but the fine romantic abbey and of course the Roman remains at Caerleon.

Social
Our second time meeting at the quarry car park overlooking Crickhowell, on just about the finest mountain road in Wales! And the sun was shining and there was Pizza waiting for us at the end of the hike!
We delivered a 10 mile hike following Llangattock escarpment, having an early lunch at Eglwys Faen, a huge cavern, before heading off onto Mynydd Llangattock and an explore of the very difficult and featurless ground there and returning to our start point at Blaenonneu Quarry.
Andy had been on the radio the day before, warning of the potential danger of adders and guess what, after a lifetime of wandering the Welsh hills and only spotting an adder once, it just happened that on this social hike we came across two adders basking in the Welsh sunshine!

Snowdon
Conor was the leader on the Sunday, guiding a small group to the summit of Snowdon via the Ranger Path. Two cancelled, one was a no show and so a lucky family group had Conor all to themselves. And they were speedy. Despite the age range they were the fastest group so far this year, with them pushing the pace while still enjoying the sunshine and the mountain. Back at the start point by 3 pm :)
