Wales Outdoors left Wales for the week and headed north to Scotland for a digital detox and time out in the hills. Visiting Blair Atholl and Kingussie we had 2 nights in a hotel, two nights in two bothies, two nights under canvas and two nights in a rather lovely Airbnb cottage.
First up though, check out the new website, which is now full of moving pictures :)
Glen Tilt
We walked Glen Tilt from Blair Atholl and camped by the Falls of Tarf. The next day we made our way to the Tarf Hotel and the third day we took in a Munro, Carn a’ Chlamain, all to the sound of rutting deer and in rather fine weather for the time of the year…
Kinloch Rannoch
We parked up after a night in the gorgeous forestry campsite, Kilvrecht, at just a tenner a night for a pitch, and hiked our stuff to a bothy off the Mountain Bothy Association listing and known to Andy from his years of tramping the highlands. With lighter packs we made the gruelling ascent of Schiehallion, our second Munro of the trip, and then descended to the bothy for the night…
Feshiebridge
From our Airbnb our final days walking was through the regenerating forestry of Glen Feshie. Just a half day as this was the only day of rain throughout the trip, and we had a log fire waiting back in the snug :)
