Wales Outdoors delivered one event this week, a private tour of the very best of The Gower! We also attended multiple meeting, Caerphilly Tourism Association, Mountain Leadership CPD update, TXGB onboarding and the World Trails Network online conference.
The Gower
Great weather in the main followed us from The Hilton in Cardiff, along the coast, past the dunes at Ogmore and the steel plant at Port Talbot to Swansea, and along the three mile seafront to Mumbles. This was our first stop and when at Mumbles it’s always Andy’s recommendation to chill in the Welsh sunshine with a glass of Italian Hot Chocolate from Verdi’s, which is exactly what we did.

Then to the Gower Heritage Centre for a tour there of the 12th Century Mill and amazing collection of artifacts and tall tales born on The Gower. A hike to Three Cliffs followed and the day was perfect for a longer exploration of the beach here.

Last stop was Rhossili for lunch at The Lookout and then a wander along the cliff top to Worms Head, the iconic often photographed peninsula that the Vikings named, Wyrm, or dragon… No tour to the Gower is complete without a tase of real ale and that delight was encouraged by the barman at the Wormshead Hotel where the three guests from the USA sat and sipped and admired the view through the picture window.

All in all a fine day out in Wales :)
Remember, we have a social hiking group walk on the 3rd May and this will have a meet point of Blaenonneu Quarry Car Park and will explore Llangattock Escarpment and Eglwys Faen, a fine cave. Join Us!
