Wales Outdoors delivered two waterfall walks and a hike up Snowdon and Wales Guided Tours delivered one tour, East of Cardiff…
Snowdon
It was a horror show on Snowdon on Monday! Cloud and mist all the way, from the start at Llwyn Cwellyn to the summit, with no let up, apart from a brief gap in the damp towards the bottom, at the end of the day. To say it was like winter was not an exaggeration. The people on all fours ascending to the summit for their photo are attempting to protect themselves from being blown off the mountain! Thankfully the cafe was open, despite it being filled with cold, wet and shocked visitors to the mountain.
Remember to be prepared for all weather and eventualities when venturing onto the hill. Despite being from the flat countryside of Belgium, my group coped well and was the fastest group I have walked with on the Snowdon Ranger path, gaining the summit, which is about a five-mile hike, in two hours and ten minutes.
I gave out gold stars to all :)
Three Castles Tour
Five clients today, three from the US and two from northern France. We’ve begun to add in the museums at Caerleon to this tour, more bang for your buck and most definitely of interest to the guests.
It was another sunny day and the first tour delivered in the new minibus, an all-electric luxury eight-seater. Complaints about inoperative chargers at most locations but with a full tank from the get go there is just about enough juice to complete this tour and for Andy to get back home…
Waterfalls
Ten clients for todays hike, from the US, Italy and London/Somalia, in the waterfalls area of the Brecon Beacons National Park and a fine day out was had, as is usual, by all :) At Sgwd Gwladys we spotted a mink, an invasive species, now settled into the UK natural environment and it’s forebears being escapees from fur farms, now closed for the past 20 years or so.
No swimmers today but we made up for that the following day :)
Waterfalls
A long planned in trip, 24 students from a Texas Uni along with their staff and delivered by the Wales Outdoors team of four leaders. What a lovely day! The guests were lovely, engaged and engaging. And they had a blast, with Andy leading the first half then Graham taking over and delivering the afternoon. And swimming? there was a lot of that :)
