Wales Outdoors delivered two waterfall walks and Wales Guided Tours delivered three tours, East, North and West of Cardiff…
The Gower
Well, it wasn’t meant to be. The two clients from Oz were tired from their previous day exploring Wales and there was a weather warning for the Gower with 90% chance of rain so I had a chat with them and delivered a ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ instead. We visited Penderyn Whisky, had a tour underground at Big Pit, stopped off at the Guardian of the Valley at Six Bells and the last stop was Castell Coch. A fair bit of driving but plenty of exploration too. They were happy :)
Waterfalls
It was a gorgeous day, indeed a magnificent week, and of the seven clients we had four in the water at the end of this hike. Four from Belgium and three from India today :)
Three Castles Tour
Just two clients today as a couple cancelled last minute, so more of Andy for the guests :) Allisa asked to visit the museums at Caerleon and it worked out well so we’ll be adding in visits to those attractions to the tour in a few weeks time. Caerphilly Castle was closed due to the renovations but hey, you can’t have all the castles and the outer perimeter was still available.
The Valleys
A bit of a strange one, a family group of three from Taiwan and strange because Rhondda Heritage Park cancelled my booking for 2pm, messing up the plan for the day, and moving us to 3pm. However, I thought on my feet and moved things around a little, getting Castell Coch done and dusted prior to the mining experience. A little bit of a shame though as we missed out on the drive over the Rhigos and lunch at Treorchy but I maintained the momentum and interest by talking about the Valleys and the wealth of industrial heritage to be found in that part of South Wales.
Waterfalls
An even stranger day! Of the four booked on three cancelled on the day, leaving me with one client, from the USA, and a repeat customer, her having joined me a few days earlier on the Three Castles Tour. We chatted and it was decided, in part because of group size, her already tired legs and the 30 degree heat that afternoon, that we would have a slow walk around the Four Waterfalls. This worked out well and as we were early had the falls mostly to ourselves and with the sunshine, in spectacular condition!
