Wales Outdoors delivered zero tours this week. However, Andy made his way for two nights in Swansea, for the WOTGA AGM and some CPD.
Wednesday
We met in Swansea, at the National Waterfront Museum and caught up with some old friends over a cuppa. Then it was CPD time with a guided tour of the museum which continued on with a walking tour from there to the Dylan Thomas Museum. We then headed out of town and to the hotel, The Towers, for the AGM, drinks and a Welsh band playing assorted tunes finished off the evening.
Thursday
What a day! Long but with continuous chat about the sites we could see along the route along with multiple stops with guided tours at places such as Llanelli, The National Botanic Gardens of Wales and Dolaucothi Gold Mine. Here, Andy remembered delivering two days of abseiling from the top of the winding gear, some many moons past. And instructive day to locations that all from or visiting Wales should most definitely stop off at.
Friday
Friday morning and it was presentation time for the newly qualified Green Badge Guides. These were from South East Wales and North Wales and included all of the aspirants that Andy trained with. We then had a tour of Margam Abbey and visited the Margam Stones. The abbey is a surprising oasis of quiet and rural bliss in an otherwise industrial area of South Wales. Again, do stop off for a visit if passing.
