We’re eclectic, or electric, and we’re most definately eccentric ;)
Wales Outdoors is expanding and tomorrow will pick up a new vehicle, changing the tagline for Wales Outdoors to ‘We’re Electric’… Or, something similar. Yes, we are taking ownership of an 8 seat luxury fully electric minibus!
This new bus sits alongside our seven-seat petrol Dacia Jogger which will remain the vehicle of choice for the longer journeys that we sometimes make.
Wales Outdoors are in the frame…
In August we are being accompanied by a film crew for a video shoot, recording a full day out with Wales Outdoors and to be used by a leading OTA. This is great news and very well received by the team who will enjoy featuring on the silver screen! And the great part is we get a copy to use as we wish! Watch this space!
It’s a bit of a win…
Wales Outdoors is now live on the Visit Wales website. All it took, after four and a half years of wrangling with the management at Visit Wales who showed absolute disdain for this fine and well-respected tourism business of over thirty years and still standing and for tourism in Wales in general, was the sale of Wales Outdoors and so a new head honcho. The argument is not over, however, and Andy will continue to try to hold Visit Wales staff and their useless ministerial bosses to account, in one way or another…
And regarding the useless ministerial bosses…
They are kidding right? Wrong! Wales has its FOURTH minister responsible for tourism in under a year and the THIRD in just over one month!
Vaughan Gething, the disgraced first minister who just a few days ago agreed to step down from his appointment to that post after just four months has, two days ago, moved Sarah Murphy MS from her role with responsibility for tourism, this after the sacking of Hannah Blythyn just a little more than a month ago, and appointed Jack Sargeant MS as the minister for social partnership, which for some reason has tourism in its remit, amongst a host of other responsibilities.
Vaughan said 'I am this evening (17 July) announcing changes to my Ministerial team. I have asked Jack Sargeant, Member of the Senedd for Alyn and Deeside, to join my team as the Minister for Social Partnership'.
I say 'The corruption that is endemic within the Welsh Government, as evidenced by Vaughan Gething's fall from grace and my expose of the shenanigans exhibited by staff at Visit Wales that NONE of the ministers with responsibility for tourism has deigned to investigate, is wholly overshadowed by the disgraceful mismanagement of responsibility for tourism in the Welsh Government. Three ministers in just over one month! This shows how much the Welsh Government values tourism in Wales... Not at all...'
You really couldn't make this stuff up!
And the First Minister…
I'm not suggesting there is a link ;) but the day after I incontrovertibly proved malfeasance at the Welsh Government, from Vaughan Gething and down through the ranks of senior to middle management at Visit Wales, Vaughan decided enough is enough.
Here is my opinion of Vaughan, published 14th May 2023 and very relevant to his decision to resign.
I'll be writing to Vaughan asking him to explain why, following a meeting with me and an exchange of emails, he did nothing to investigate the discriminatory practices, taking place under his watch, at Visit Wales and as highlighted by my bombshell news which you can read about here.
Of course, given Vaughan's disgrace, I should have expected nothing less...
