The WORY - September 2020
One of twelve posts highlighting the best of 2020 - this is The Wales Outdoors Review of the Year!
I was back from France and delivering walks, but not for long. Towards the end of September the local lockdowns started to kick in and parts of England and parts of Wales were not allowed to come out for walks with Wales Outdoors.
It was about this time that Wales Indoors became an idea - more about that in a future post...
We managed to fit in 17 walks from the South of the Principality through Mid and into the North! Many of these walks were sold out at our new limit, well in line with Welsh Government guidance of 30 people in a guided activity outdoors, of 16 clients and one or two leaders.
Here are some galleries, do follow the links for some stunning photography :)
Wales Outdoors WON the 2020 Travel and Hospitality Award for MOUNTAIN GUIDING in Wales!
Campaigning continued against the tourism associations and all authorities with a finger in the Pont ar Daf pie.
The real shame of September was the undoing of the momentum that saw us selling out our well managed and small group walks, effectively the destroying of all the hard work of the previous few months. I could see we were heading into more lockdowns. The future looked bleak.
Just to re-iterate - Wales Outdoors is a small business that receives NO government funding or assistance and that does more than any other guided walk providers for tourism in Wales. Wales Outdoors has received NO Covid 19 support and I have received nothing from the government in way of compensation or to assist with my ongoing living expenses.
