Wales Outdoors has begun re-building a social hiking group for South Wales.
Pre ‘pandemic’ this is what Wales Outdoors was, the most popular walking group in Wales, with weekly hikes, often multiple hikes each week, many of which sold out within a few days of listing. Wales Outdoors had over 10,000 members in its Meetup group and 18,000 followers on Facebook.
The Covid years ended this, with Andy deciding to delete the Meetup group due to irreconcilable differences with Meetup management (they are incompetent at delivering a social platform and clearly stand against freedom of expression). We also had the issue, which in a great part remains, of Facebook shadowbanning Wales Outdoors. The hikes that pre-pandemic sold out in a few days were being seen by no more than a handful of people. Big tech had decided to destroy a vibrant and successful community, in opposition to their published mission statements .
Anyways, Wales Outdoors have begun to use Facebook once again, with the sole intention of delivering very low-cost hikes in South Wales, on a monthly basis, for community and social interaction.
Wales Outdoors have listed three walks to date, in January, February and March of 2025 and these hikes are available to all but we are especially looking for those living in South Wales and who intend to come along tho our social hikes on a regular basis. The hikes cost £5 pp, So, check out the hikes, all led by professionally qualified mountain specialists, and sign up for your first outing with Wales Outdoors :)
