Management Of Kenfig Burrows

It's not Bridgend Council any longer, looks like they've passed the buck, but it's a charity of some kind. I've written to both parties, the council and the charity, making the same offer.

The reason is partly tongue in cheek although if they bit my hand off I'd certainly give managing the site a go. The cafe is closed, the loos and interpretation are closed. The dunes are uncared for. The bird hides need work. The footpaths are unsigned and unwalkable by most.

Here's my email and I await a response...

'You give me £100,000 and a twenty year lease and I'll manage Kenfig Nature Reserve, it's paths, it's information centre and cafe and any educational outcomes and tourism outcomes that we agree. 

If you think that is a bold offer, well, I would ask you to think on the cost to the council, over twenty years, to manage the site and of course the disaster that it now is. I will send you one photo of one small section of footpath and ask you what is being done here to encourage access and interpretation at the site? 

Please note I am serious about the offer, have over thirty years of leisure and tourism experience, have team members who are educators and environmentalists and I know that within a year I could make Kenfig a site of national interest both for its nature and the amazing turnaround in management. 

If the offer is not one you wish to consider please do inform me of your plans to have Kenfig made safe and desirable as a destination for education and recreation. Oh, and the projected costs involved in your plan.
