Is Wales Just A Bit Shit At Tourism?

A Case Study

We went for a walk, in the Brecon Beacons, starting at Llangorse lake.

The infrastructure there is good, a campsite, boat hire, kids holiday camp, public loos, an historic recreation of a 'Crannog', a bar, a large cafe, a shop... Llangorse lake is the largest area of natural water in the Brecon Beacons National Park and is used by anglers, boat enthusiasts, horse riders and dog walkers.

EVERYTHING was shut. Yep, even the loos.

If I owned all of that it would mostly all be open, the cafe doing a fine trade servicing locals and random visitors alike, the attractions and public loos open for visitors.

But whoever owns the various items listed, and it's likely multiple owners, well, they couldn't give a shit it seems.

We went on our walk and had a fine time taking in the common, Llangorse village, mountain and a circumnavigation of the lake - and we hope you like the video. But there was no cuppa at the end of the day as everything was still all closed up, and for the winter season, likely not to open until Easter...

What a shameful waste of resources and waste of opportunity to extend the season for tourism business' be they activity or accommodation, in the area.

I've copied this to Brecon Beacons Tourism, not that they are up for much campaigning or development of services for visitors. They seem to be far more keen to remain in bed with the authorities that I assume fund them in some way.
