Wales Outdoors have been onboarded by the global activity company, Get Your Guide. It’s been a long and bumpy road to this point and who knows if anything positive will come of it, you know, bookings and smiling happy clients. But, we’ll see over time.
We now offer seven client-oriented and memorable events on Get Your Guide, TripAdvisor, Viator, TXGB and it’s associated resellers, Visit Britain, Airbnb, Facebook, Eventbrite and of course the Wales Outdoors Website, where, we offer a good few more products such as lesser-known walks and our UK and overseas holidays.
I originally applied to have some of my events listed with Get Your Guide way back in late 2020. This was the response then…
Thank you for your interest in applying as a supplier on GetYourGuide.
Your application has been received.
However, due to the difficult situation worldwide, our main focus is to provide value for our existing suppliers in these difficult times.
As soon as the COVID-19 situation stabilizes globally we will be able to resume our regular operations, including the onboarding of new accounts.
Please bear in mind that it may take some time to respond to your application request.
All relevant information, including the commission rate, will be disclosed only upon successful outcome of your application.
We thank you for your patience and remain at your disposal for any further information.
I then chased them up in late 2021, effectively applying again and I got this…
Thank you very much for your interest in working with GetYourGuide. We really appreciate the time and effort you took to submit the application.
Our goal is to offer a wide variety of activities which meet our customers’ preferences. This is why we carefully review each application we receive to confirm both its similarity to our other activities and the frequency with which customers search for this kind of experience.
With these guidelines in mind, I regret to inform you that, at this moment in time, we do not have enough customer demand to justify a partnership with your company. However, should this change in the future, we will, of course, get back in touch.
We thank you once more for your understanding and wish you and your business continued success in the future.
I was shocked and amazed by this response. Not enough demand. To guide in the waterfalls area or up the highest mountain in Wales? So I queried this and things got a little hot with Get Your Guide refusing to either expand on this or to offer a ‘real’ reason for not wishing to work with the only 5 Star multi award winning mountain guiding provider in Wales. Get Your Guide sent me this…
As a customer-centric company, reacting to and exceeding the desires of our customers drives our actions at every level. With this in mind, our decision to decline a partnership with you is supported by, what we consider to be, the best option for our customers.
In light of this, a decision was made and, for the time being, we do not intend to alter it. Hereby, we kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation. Please note that this is our last written communication about your application process.
This really pissed me off as it was a different ‘excuse’ to others previously proffered. Suffice to say it ended with a few exchanges that left no doubt that we would not be working together at any time in the future with this as a single line final response from the Get Your Guide team…
We truly wish you a successful career outside of Get Your Guide!
Then… After a phone call in February, unsolicited and out of the blue, from a Get Your Guide salesperson, I received this email…
It was very nice talking to you today. We are happy to help you create the offers and set them live so they can work for your success.
I have just received the reply from the IT team.
Can you please upload new insurance, the last one is expired.
There is one more thing that we need to have uploaded- business registration. Listing on Guestlink is not sufficient. Private proprietor registration or similar.
Once you finalize registration, we can start with the products.
You have amazing tours that can run regularly on set days of the week, lets start with them first.
And Wales Outdoors is now featured on Get Your Guide.
It’s a rather strange world…
