We Were Told To Fuck Off
Yes, English Heritage told us to 'Fuck Off' and we had not even engaged with them! This is my message to English Heritage...
'Whilst visiting Dunstanburgh Castle we approached the gates to the castle. This was on the 17th August and was in the afternoon.
The member of staff on duty was incongruously masked, despite being outdoors, and blue gloved. Perhaps they are vulnerable in which case I would have to question the job allocation of being the first point of contact for members of the public. If not then given the UK Gov's relaxing of regulations they did appear a little intimidating and over zealous.
Booking was required to enter the castle and at the gate there was a sign stating the days visitor slots were sold out. We had not booked in advance being chance day visitors. The empty space and distinct lack of people made the visible situation incongruous. I said to my partner that this was more of 'The Covid Madness' and so without even approaching the gate we wandered off to circumnavigate the castle.
We were a few steps away when we both clearly heard your member of staff shout after us 'Fuck Off'...
We know it was her as she was the only other person in sight, the castle grounds and hillside in front of the castle being devoid of all others. I would like your comment not only on your staffs behaviour but also as to why your staff was so attired and also why you are still requiring booking of slots when social distancing is no longer a thing.'
