Sent to Coleman EU - Let's see what their customer service is like...
ME - I bought a Coleman Fyrestrom a few years back and after about a couple of camping trips, it stopped working. By that I mean the gas flow slowed making the stove only suitable for simmering. I took the stove back to GoOutdoors and they replaced it. A year or so later, and about one camping trip in due to the pandemic, the same thing has happened. The stove is useless with minimal gas flow. I believe there is a fault with the design of this stove as this is now the second stove that I have had that has the same problem. GoOutdoors will not refund or accept a return stating that this is now outside of warranty. I would like you to either a) refund me the amount paid at GoOutdoors being 50GBP OR a voucher for the same to spend in your store. Obviously, I do not want a replacement as I do not want to be stuck in the hills, as I was last week, with a dysfunctional stove. Luckily I had an Alpkit rocket stove as well and so I did not go hungry on that occasion. I look forward to hearing from you…
COLEMAN - We are sorry to read your experience with one of our stoves. We offer a 2 year warranty (covered ONLY by the retailer) from purchase date on our products to overcome any manufacturing defects that may occur during that period. Unfortunately, we cannot help you with taking over the warranty from Go Outdoors or provide any re-embursement. Also the retailer will be your point of contact for any warranty issues, however if the product is out of warranty there is not a lot they can do for you I’m afraid.
ME - Thank you for your quick response. I am disheartened by your words though and will be feeding my dissatisfaction with your customer service to my large client base. I am an outdoor professional and as such have a lifetime of experience with outdoor kit. My walking group of 15,000 on fb and 10,000 on meetup regard my advice as genuinely given and they take note because of this. I am telling you that the same issue with two fyrestorms is not an issue with me or with GoOutdoors but is an issue with your manufacture of such. I feel although I am sure you will not confirm that you will have had many similar complaints. The replacement stove is obviously out of warranty as a) it was replaced about a year after purchase and b) there was a pandemic that made camping near impossible for two subsequent years. I expected a company as well known as Coleman to note these exceptional circumstances and act in good faith. You have not. Before taking any action I ask you to reconsider and to act in a manner that befits a brand such as Coleman.
