Sometimes we have influencers out with us, sometimes those who like to record their days out and share with friends and family and sometimes we shoot a few rerels ourselves. Here is a long video detailing a full day with us in the waterfalls area of the Brecons Beacons National Park.
Joy and her husband were delightful, and as you can see they had an amazing day out with Wales Outdoors, but they only managed to attend our day, due to the impossibility of getting to the most popular location for hiking in the Brecon Beacons by the vagueries public transport, through our flexibility and having a ‘spare’ member of the team available to collect them from a nearby town.
We’ll keep on saying it! Without reliable public transport going to places and at times that people actually want to visit (think of the dreadful service to the most popular museum in Wales, St Fagans) then tourism in Wales will forever struggle.
At Pontneddfechan, our start point for our waterfall hike, the local authority are investing in a car park and visitor centre to the tune of £8 million investment. They have not indicated plans for any bus provision that will service the area.

But, that is where Wales Outdoors steps nin… We will be filling the gap with small group tours offered directly from Cardiff in our all electric minivan. Scheduled times and pickups and of course you are guaranteed not to miss the last bus back to the capital.

Hi Andrew, I’m working on a piece at the moment about the impact of social media on Wales’ scenic spots. I would love to hear your thoughts. Would you be able to drop me an email if possible? pip@pipandthecity.com
